What is The Startup Library?
The Startup Library is a crash course in entrepreneurial thinking for Library Land. It is about identifying opportunities, taking smart risks, and making things happen. This is your platform to ask big questions, find collaborators, and learn by doing.
If you want to make the Library experience better for patrons, then The Startup Library is for you! It’s a practical professional development opportunity featuring four half-day workshops that build on principles from:
- Design Thinking
- User Experience Design
- Lean Thinking (including The Lean Startup)
- Creative Problem Solving
- Business Model Generation
- Startup Weekend
We’re looking for people attached to libraries (librarians, IT staff, vendors, etc.) who have good ideas, energy, and a willingness to make Library Land better for patrons. It’s not about your institution. It’s about your profession.
Here’s the best part: registration is FREE! The 2013 Startup Library is funded through an Innovation grant from The University of Guelph Library. You just need to get permission from your employer (strongly recommended!) and figure out how to get to Guelph for four Friday afternoons (March 8, March 15, April 5, April 12).
So what are you waiting for? You know you need to join us.
